Tewodros has over 20 years of experience working in various areas of Ethiopian law. He started his own private practice in 2006. Since then, he has advised several of his corporate clients on a broad spectrum of issues in the fields of company law, banking, insurance, competition, and employment. Besides, he has represented numerous clients in litigation. He currently doubles as the Chair of the Board of Directors (COB) of Berhan Insurance – a leading insurance company
Before he started his private practice, Tewodros was the head of the legal services of Abyssinia Bank. He was also, prior to that, an in-house lawyer for the Construction and Business Bank of Ethiopia.
Tewodros has earned a reputation for his dedication to public service. He was the president of the Ethiopian Lawyers Association for a term. He was also a member of the team of experts tasked, by the Office of the Attorney General, with the revision of the law governing legal practice. Besides, Tewodros had previously been appointed by the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce as a member of a group of high-level experts to help develop the position of the business community on the Revised Draft Commercial Code of Ethiopia. The proceedings of the group’s deliberations and findings have been published.
Before starting full-time practice, Tewodros was an assistant professor of law at Addis Ababa University, and has published several articles.
Tewodros holds LL.B and LL.M from Addis Ababa University Law School.
